Lab Rescue Christmas Social

We had a fun evening visiting and being social - funny thing was we were afraid we were not going to know how to act without dogs with us!  We had a great time just hanging out and enjoying some good treats, holiday music, and a friends.  The conversations were great too - and yes, we did eventually talk about dogs!  We could not help ourselves....  :0)

Randy won the hotel stay.
Luann won the 20$ Bennigans gift card.
John won the Tulsa World 2006 Entertainment coupon guide.

We had other winners of small holiday goodies too!

UPDATE:  Chloe

aka Neveah

I saw Bullitt and Chloe's picture on the Lab tales page last month. Bullitt is our German Shephard and Chloe was adopted from the Lab Rescue in July. Her name was Neveah when we got her. She is growing like a weed and loves her brother very much. They play and play, and slept beside each other. We catch them kissing each other too. They like to play tug of war, chase squirrels and play fetch. Chloe has brought so much joy and love to us. Chloe and Bullitt are like our children and we love to spoil them. We are so happy to have found the Lab Rescue.

Thank you.. Ann, Bullitt, Chloe and David

UPDATE:  Duke

(aka Plato)

WHAT A PRECIOUS BABY.  DukeDuke joined our family on November 18, 2005.  We had recently bought a house and were ready to add a dog to our family.  Duke was the Labbie recommended by the wonderful Vicki from LabRescue.  She asked that we give Duke a “test drive” and make sure that he fit with our family and that WE fit with him!  The first time I (the mom) walked into the vet’s office and saw Duke, he started jumping up and down and ran towards me – it’s been true love ever since!!  Within minutes, he was on his back so I could rub his belly and, after some instructions from the vet tech, he gratefully jumped into our vehicle and we were on the way home!  He calmly sat in the backseat next to our 15-year-old son to whole way.  He adjusted to our family so quickly, has the best manners and just LOVES to play fetch with a tennis ball, Frisbee, stick or whatever!!  After the first snow in December, he was just a riot to watch running and playing in the snow like a little kid!  Duke is convinced he’s really a lap dog and would like nothing more than to sit on our laps and be scratched on the ears & belly, but at nearly 100 lbs, he’s kinda big for that!.  At first, he was a little nervous if we picked up anything that looked like a club (i.e., hammer, broom, screwdriver, etc.), so we think he may have been abused in the past, but we have learned to just lay the item on the floor so he can sniff it, reassure him that we love him and that he’s such a good boy, and then he’s just fine!  He knows when it’sDuke time for bed and sometimes even snores and “talks” in his sleep!!  If we’re home, he’s usually hot on our heels following us around the house.  Sometimes after the weekend, I think he’s relieved when we leave for work because it means he can sleep all day in his “bedroom” (or crate)!!

Duke has been just a wonderful addition to our family, our 9-year-old cat doesn’t always think so, but since Duke gave up his new doggie bed for her, I think she’s starting to at least tolerate him a bit more.  He hasn’t chased her once and he’s even taken a couple bats to his nose (thankfully, she’s declawed), but I know he’d love to play with her!

We are so grateful to LabRescue for saving Duke from the shelter.  I can’t imagine life without his unconditional love, playful & goofy attitude, sweet brown eyes and his eagerness to please everyone!!

UPDATE:  Leo

(aka Seven)

LeoLeo is the apple of my eye! He has been such a joy to my life since the day I got him. He is soooo smart and loves to talk! Yes, I mean talk : ) I call him "Chewbacca". He’s naturally curious about my cranky cat Belle, but his sweet demeanor always allows her the “right of way.” They’ve actually started sleeping on the same futon together. Leo loves to high jump for his toy and play in the water……he was also the star of our Petsmart obedience class!

Thanks so much for all that your organization does- you truly are making a difference!

UPDATE:  Max

(aka Harry)

I just thought I would send an email and a picture to let you know how I am doing now that I have been adopted. I have been with my new family for about 5 mths. And I truly love it. You may remember me by my lab rescue name which was Harry. My family gave me a new name. So now I am called Max. I am the cute yellow boy in the picture and my friend in the picture with me is my new buddy, Cooper.

COOPER AND MAX

We have so much fun running and playing. We do it so much that Cooper actually lost some weight. Our Dr. liked that a lot. I also have Tylar and Blaike who love me very much (not to mention, my new mom and dad) I get to go outside and play with Blaike all of the time. He is four so we get lots of time to spend together. Tylar is older but he still loves me a whole lot. My life is pretty great and we are getting ready for Christmas. Mom is getting my stocking made so that Santa can bring me some goodies on Christmas Eve. Sorry, it has taken me so long to letyou know how I am doing but life is great and I am so happy that Lab Rescue was there to find me a good home.

Thanks Lab Rescue!!!!

UPDATE:  Brooklyn

(aka Boo)

The "boys"We adopted Boo – now named Brooklyn in November.  She has been a wonderful, welcome addition to our home here in Northwest Arkansas.  While there were a few surprises – ear surgery and her going into heat – she has come through and seems to have recaptured her zest for life – always smiling!  We both feel blessed to have adopted such an easy going, loving and overall happy dog.  As you can see from the pictures, she is well loved.

UPDATE:  Midas

Santa MidasMidas has been the most previous gift we could ever have brought into our home. He is absolutely my best buddy, my wife's security and cure for loneliness when I'm out of town and the protectorate of our seven cats. He always brings a smile to your face regardless how bad the day has been. His unconditional love has touched every member of our extended family. Everyone adores Midas and sees him as family member, not just a pet or, even a dog for that matter! I cannot imagine what life would be like without Midas. Thank You for rescuing him and allowing us to make him such a wonderful member of our family. I wish we could take in other labs as well, but the Inn is pretty full with our seven rescue cats and Midas. However, we will offer what financial assistance we can to assist you with this wonderful cause. Please call us if we can be of further help.

Cream PuffHi! Today I am 1 year old! My mom and dad got me lots of great presents, 2 new blankets to chew on, some nylabones, and a lot of tasty treats. UPDATE:  Savanna

Savanna is very sweet! Everyone in our family loves her. Even Samson, although he won't show it. Savanna follows me everywhere. She will sit at the back door if I go out to clean up a mess she made. We' ve had some problems with her chewing up the patio furniture cushions, but other than that she's great. We have been doing training classes with her. She is the star of her class! She is the smartest dog I have ever seen. We absolutely love her to death!!! I will see if Mom can send you some updated pics so everyone can see how cute she is!! She is also very affectionate. She can never get too much attention.

Merry Christmas!!
