Meet Guiness, or Mr. Happy as we call him. He is so happy to be out of the animal shelter, have enough food every day, have playmates to wrestle with, have someone to “talk” to and have a yard to run in. And every day he lets you know just how happy he is by staying close, trying to please and showering you with kisses.

Guiness is around 5 yrs old and only weighed 46 lbs when he was rescued from a local shelter but is back up to a healthy weight of around 70 lbs now. And meal time is the happiest time of the day for him. He patiently waits for his food but once his bowl is ready and placed in front of him he dives in, doesn’t come up for air until it is empty and it’s time to vacuum up all the pieces that flew on the floor when he dove in. And he quickly learned to leave the other dog’s bowls alone so his past history of food depravation has not turned into aggression.

He is a great companion, following me from room to room just to stay close. But when it is play time he wears out my 14 mo old Black Lab. He still has a lot of energy for his age but expels it thru adult behavior - playing with his toys, running thru the yard, chasing a ball, etc. He doesn’t like a crate but freely chases a treat inside. He is house broken, only chews on his toys, is leash trained and knows a few basic commands. He loves car rides and lives up to his ‘retriever’ breed by returning a fetched ball.

He is a joy to have around the house.

He is neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He was heart worm positive when he came to Lab Rescue and is currently undergoing treatment so he will not be available for adoption until late May or early June. The treatment will allow him to make a complete recovery with no side affects.  It costs very little to prevent heartworms but once infected the treatment is expensive.  If you can donate, please do. A donation will help all of our labbies as well as Guiness.

Please sponsor me and others due to the silent killer Heartworms. Only you can make a difference!
