Meet Ginny. She came to us all the way from an Arkansas shelter when
some kind volunteers felt she was just too sweet to face the unknown
there. They got her out of the shelter at the last minute only to find
out she is heartworm positive. Not to be defeated, they raised the money
to treat her! Ginny is very thankful because she is just a young girl
looking for a second chance. She has been spayed, is up to date on
vaccines, and should be finished with her heartworm treatment near the
end of March.
Ginny is about 2 years old, very petite, and as
sweet as she can be. She spent her whole 2 years as an outside farm dog
so she's getting the hang of indoor life now. She's almost potty trained
and should have it down in no time. If she can't find another dog to
play with, she will follow you from room to room hoping for some loves.
She would love to run and play but has to be kept calm until her
treatments are finished. She can't hardly wait to be able to run like
crazy in the yard! Ginny doesn't have many bad habits, but will put her
front feet up on you if she thinks it will get her some attention. Ginny
should be good with small children once she learns she shouldn't jump
up. Ginny crates while her foster family is away and sleeps in it at
night while going through treatment.
Ginny can't come to events
quite yet, but a private meeting can be arranged. Get your application
in for this sweet girl now before someone else beats you to it!
Heartworms are preventable, all it takes is a pill given by the human
caretaker once a month to the dog. The treatment to clear the dog of the
worms is costly and hard on the dogs. Lab Rescue does not feel this is a
reason to euthanize a dog and chooses to treat them, any donations would
be appreciated to help her and other heartworm positive dogs in our
program.
Sponsored by Tammy, Karen, Tony and Amanda and without
foster parents Amy and Lyn she couldn't have been sponsored. It took a
village.
