My name is Kensington and I'm between 2-3 years old. My previous owners did not take care of me and let me get heartworms, then dumped me at the shelter. The nice people at Lab Rescue saved me from those horrible days and nights at the shelter - it was awful there. They took me to a nice vet where they looked me over real good, gave me a few shots and then did something really amazing, they are paying to have my heartworms treated! I'm on the road to recovery now and will be ready to take home soon. I love all of my dog friends and people friends, even the little bitty people too. I like my crate, my dog bed at night and soft toys. But my most favorite thing is just to be loved on and lay around the house with my people and dog friends. If you're looking for a nice house pet, I hope you choose me!!
Heartworms are preventable, all it takes is a pill given by the human caretaker once a month to the dog. The treatment to clear the dog of the worms is costly and hard on the dogs. Lab Rescue does not feel this is a reason to euthanize a dog and chooses to treat them, any donations would be appreciated.
