"What a great dog!" is the refrain we have been hearing in our neighborhood this month as we walk Toby in the mornings.  Toby is a classic black lab in every good sense of the word.  She greets the neighborhood dogs and children with a wagging tail and she would rather play catch than about anything. The only time we have heard her bark is when the meter reader has entered the yard without ringing the bell first. At 7 years of age, Toby can walk four miles in an hour and still want to come home and play catch with a tennis ball or her red Frisbee.  She loves to lounge around after exercise and she limits her chewing to a nylabone.  She goes after garden rabbits, which we greatly appreciate, and she just likes to be in the same room where we are, napping or looking for an ear rub.  She ignores the neighbors’ cats. Housebroken and willingly crated while we are out, even for long periods of time, she is a very easy dog to have around.
Toby was surrendered to Lab Rescue by her former owners who could not afford to treat Toby when she was infected with heartworms. Lab Rescue accepted her and paid for all of her heartworm treatment, and that was finished over three months ago. Her heartworm treatment appears to be a complete success. Lab Rescue also successfully treated her for an ear infection which has cleared up now. She is an easy girl to love.  No wonder everyone who stops by for a visit exclaims, "What a great dog!!!".
