Hi!  My name is Viejo.  I came into Lab Rescue after being a stray for about 2 months and the nice lady who was trying to feed me and keep me warm thought Lab Rescue could help find me a good home.  I'm about 3 years old and weigh about 65 pounds.  I've been "fixed" and I'm up to date on all of my shots.  I'm also heartworm negative (YAY!) and am on monthly preventative.  I'm in really good health except for this darn itchy skin, which as you can see from my pictures has caused me to scratch, so that the hair around my face is thin.  Some Benadryl pills in my food everyday has helped with the itching.
Here are the best things about me-  I'm as big as I'm going to get, save for the last few pounds I need to gain.  I don't chew things I'm not supposed to.  I don't potty in the house (I never even tried to "mark" when I went to my foster home).  I don't need a crate.  I'm just fine spending the day in the kitchen with the baby gate up.  I love to sleep at the foot of your bed on my big dog bed.  I like to "patrol" the back yard and make sure none of the pesky neighbor dogs cause any trouble.  I'm a pretty laid back boy and I sit when I'm told.  I am cat friendly and like to wrestle with the cat at my foster home.
I would require a home with a sturdy 6 foot privacy fence and I would much prefer a home with older children who can go in the yard and run and wrestle with me.  I am working on basic commands but I do well on the leash and am learning quickly.  My foster mom feeds me separate from the other dogs in the house because I'm kind of bossy when it comes to my food bowl.  I don't mind if people come around while I'm eating but I don't want other dogs messing with my bowl and I've been known to try and steal their food.  There is another boy dog at my foster home that I don't want to play with but we just stay away from each other and it works out fine.  If you want to take me home and have a bossy boy dog we will need a calm introduction.  My foster mom says she will help you with making sure it all goes smoothly.
I'm a very sweet boy and if you need a buddy for life, please pick me!
