"Hi. My name is Jellie. Please be good to me. I like kids and am a very good pet." That's what was written on the note attached to her leash when one of our vets came back from lunch and found her tied up to a tree in front of his office. He called us and we agreed to take her. We soon found out what was probably the reason she was dumped--she was heartworm positive. She has already had her first treatment so she will be ready for adoption soon. It turns out she is a good--no, great--pet. She is 2--3 years old (still young but past the annoying puppy phase) and about 60 lbs (and needs to gain some weight). She is the English-type lab - shorter with a nice otter tail and box head. She's gorgeous. It looks like her owners bred her, sold the puppies and since there was no more use for her, they stuck her outside (her coat is sun bleached out) and obviously didn't care for her much anymore. She will complete her heartworm treatment soon but you better go ahead and get your app in because I am quite certain the first people to meet her will fall in love.
All her owners had to do was give her a heartworm preventative pill every month to spare her from this hard and expensive treatment. We are in desperate need of donations or else we won't be able to save any more heartworm positive dogs. Our funds are tapped out. We really can't afford to have even taken her. Without your help she will be the last one we can take for quite awhile.

UPDATE: She has come home from the vet. She has had 2 HW treatments. She will be ready to go soon. Here is what I have learned. She is good with cats, kids, all other dogs. She likes to play for awhile and then goes and lays down in a small carpeted area behind my couch. She is crate-trained, house broken and to sum it up-- perfect.
