Steeler is a 5 month old yellow labbie that was dumped with his sister Hilda and 3 other siblings in a stranger's dog run.  He hasn't had much association with people and is shy.  He has made amazing progress in just 3 days.  Before to get him in the house from the yard, you'd have to open the patio door and leave the room and then sneak back in when he wasn't looking and shut the door or he'd dart out. He and his sister wanted to come in really bad when you'd call them.  They'd stand just out of reach and wag and whine but wouldn't approach - even for treats.  Now they both come into the house without much coaxing.  He follows his sister around constantly and takes his lead from her.  If she approaches or comes into the house he will follow.  They are still shy about coming to you unless you are sitting down but they are improving every day as their confidence builds.  He likes to be petted when he builds up the nerve to approach and pretty soon you can get him into a wrestling match.  He does not enjoy crating and will whine and moan for 10 minutes or so before giving up.  He has not had any accidents in the house.  He doesn't quite know what to do with toys and he has never heard a squeaker before.  So far he has shown no destructive chewing tendencies.  He does not appear to be food or dog aggressive. He has learned to walk on leash in just 3 days - with only minor pulling.  He settles in after about 1/4 of a mile.  He should be fun to train as he watches you for signals during walks.

Update -- Steeler is now a fun-loving almost 6 month old labbie.  He is no longer shy and romps around playing and enjoying himself.  He has a gentle mouth and enjoys playing with toys, chewing bones and playing with other dogs.  He settles into a crate quickly now.  He has also become his own dog and will run off and investigate without his sister, Hilda.  He weighed in at 71 lbs for his neuter so he will most likely be a 100 lb lab at adulthood.  He still watches you for signals during walks and is cat and kid friendly.  He tolerates baths and enjoys splashing in the shallows.  He LOVES being petted and is not dog, people, food or toy aggressive.
