My name is Maximus. I am 2. My previous owner recognized that she didn't have time for me so I was surrendered to LR so they could find me a new home.  I know my pictures look like I had a bad peroxide die job but that is just because I was outside all the time.  It should take about 6 months before my coat grows back into the beautiful chocolate color that you see on my nose. I was a bit overweight because I didn't go for walks much.  I have gone on a diet and exercise program and lost 11 pounds in one week. I now weigh 97 lbs and only have 5 to10 pounds or so to lose. I am learning how to walk on a leash after about 1/2 a block I settle in and walk well. I didn't like crates at first but now I don't mind crating.  In fact I prefer crating in the house to being outside by myself.  I get lonesome and bark at the door to remind my foster mom that she forgot to let me in. I would like to sit on the furniture but my foster mom makes me get off, rats. I love cats and other dogs and am not aggressive.  I like the water and retrieving.  I didn't like storms at first because I was outside but now I bark once to make sure my foster mom knows something is going on outside and then I fall asleep next to her. I like kids and my foster mom says I would do well with older kids.
